Luminous Power Technologies has appointed Dr. Kannan Tinnium as Senior Vice President for Research and Development. He will be responsible for shaping the technology and product development for the Power Solutions Business at Luminous.
Most recently, Dr. Tinnium was the Associate Director of Enzen Global Solutions where he oversaw research on new technology applications in future utility systems. Prior to that, he was at the helm of Power Research Development Consultants in India as the General Manager for Utility Power Systems Solutions.
A specialist in the power sector, Dr. Tinnium spent 17 years with GE Global Research in the US and India where he held crucial technology leadership positions in Electrical Technologies, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Energy Storage and Controls. He also spent more than four years with Entergy Services, one of the largest electric utilities in the USA, where he was driving technical analysis of their transmission grid and identifying optimal solutions.
Dr. Tinnium is a Senior Member of the IEEE and had served as the chair of the IEEE – Power and Energy Society in Bangalore. He has also been active with ELECRAMA in 2018 and 2020, and more recently, he Co-Chaired the ‘World Utility Summit 2020’ organized by IEEMA and IEEE.

With a keen interest in technology advancements and applications in Renewables, Smart Grid and Distributed Power, he completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University in 1991 and received his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from Tulane University, USA in 1996.
